Avenue youths made the short trip into limerick today to play the inform side Regional utd who are performing very well in their domestic league this season. The game started in avenues favour with them coming closest in the opening five minutes. After a couple of good chances went astray finally the deadlock was broken 12 minutes when Jamies Stack headed home from a Dylan Barry corner. Avenue finished the first half strong and unlucky to go in only 1 up. Second half started with Regional on the front foot putting pressure on. Avenue though about 5 mins in step up a gear again and started dominating the midfield and the match. The second was scored by an in form Manus Doherty from a lose ball in the box from a tackle by the regional defender on Stephen Talty. And 10 minutes later Jamie Stack made a great run after winning the ball deep in his own half and slipped Albert "Chuks" Obadeyi in for a crisp finish. Avenue for the last 15 set deep and invited Regional and subsequently from counter attacking positions could have made it 4 or 5. Lee clohessy coming closest. In the end a deserved win.
