Unfortunately our Under 16 Girls squad lost 2-1 earlier this afternoon . A game played in horrendous conditions, wind, rain and the cold. With chances few and far between for both sides we reached halftime at 0-0 playing against a very strong  wind and with thanks to brilliant goalkeeping from Rhianna  Eze and all round  defensive team work. 10 mins into the 2nd half Sadhbh Cooney with an excellent goal from just inside the edge of the box to open the scoring after some lovely team play.
The last 15 /20 mins Oranmore piled on the pressure and finally got their equaliser with a well worked goal with a low drive finish from outside the box into the bottom corner. 1-1. 
5 mins to go Maree/Oranmore got the winner with another well taken shot just inside the box to the top corner. Two excellent goals.
It was brilliant performance from a very young Avenue side, but it just wasn't meant to be.These Girls  should be very proud of their National Trophy run. They have been excellent. And what a season they have had.
